Soothe Your Soul

My child, I want everyone to experience the freedom, the joy, the peace and the love that is available in Me. If people only knew how it would nourish their entire being to spend time with Me they’d do it more often. I have created you for intimacy with Me. I cherish the time you give to communing with Me. Nothing that this world has to offer will soothe your soul like time spent with Me.

Galatians 5:22    Psalm 27:4

Freedom and Confidence

My child, keep the faith. Keep believing Me when all seems lost. Your faith in Me pleases Me. When you doubt, you’re doubting My ability to take care of the situation. Don’t doubt, only believe. This may go against every fiber of your being, but learn to trust Me in EVERYTHING. Only then will you be able to walk in the freedom and confidence I’ve called you to.

Hebrews 11:6    Galatians 3:6

Man’s Spirit: God’s Gift

Without question our spiritual nature is the supreme gift of God to man. Why do I say the supreme gift? Because through our spirit, and only through our spirit, has God given us the opportunity to commune with Him. We need to realize that the opportunity for His indwelling presence is the primary purpose for the existence of our spirit. God actually takes up residence in our spirit as we allow Him to do so.

It may sound a bit presumptuous to say that He indwells us only as we allow it, but that is exactly the case. Because He has given us the capacity of free will, God lives within us only as an invited guest. Our spirit has been formed by God in such a way as to provide His Holy Spirit a dwelling place within our nature.(1 Corinthians 3:16: Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?)

I’m sure you’ve heard it said that within each person there is a God-shaped vacuum which only He can fill. That place is our spirit. Without the inhabiting presence of God, our spirit is simply dead—and therefore purposeless. So in one very large sense, our spirit is the essence of our being.

Problems & Challenges

My child, focus on Me and not the problem. I hold the answers to all your problems and challenges. You just need to come to Me. I alone know the future. I alone see the outcome. Focus on Me and allow Me to work this out. Have faith in Me and believe Me. Your life will be much more peaceful if you come to Me instead of fretting over every problem and challenge that comes your way.

Matthew 11;28     Psalm 37:8

Nourishment for your soul

I was reading Psalm 103 this morning and it struck me how nourishing the word of God is to my soul. Just as our body needs an occasional cleanse from all the sugars, additives and preservatives in the foods we eat, so our soul could use a ‘detox’ from media, T.V., or whatever else is poisoning our souls. Take time and refresh yourself in the word of God. Psalm 103 is a great place to start. Feed on God’s word. Rest in His love. He will bring healing and nourishment to your entire being.

It’s Why You’re Here

My child, when you minister to the needy, you minister to Me. When you serve the poor, you are serving Me. When you love the unlovely, you are loving Me. It’s no accident these people are in your life. It’s for your benefit as well as theirs. Minister freely. Serve unselfishly. Love unconditionally. It’s why you’re here.

Matthew 25:35-40

Our “Flesh”

While Scripture often uses the term  flesh to describe the physical body, it is also used to portray that part of our nature which encompasses body, mind and soul. This definition of flesh is epitomized in Jesus’ warning to His disciples, “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”(Matthew 26:41). Here flesh is used to describe that part of our nature which stands in contrast to our spiritual nature. It is the carnal nature of man, the seat of sinful passions and affections.

Our flesh, then, is that part of our nature which is able to live and function freely without any submission to God—although it’s obvious that it can exist only as His sustaining power allows it. And it’s very important to understand that the flesh follows us into our new life in God. It continues to have a life of its own even as our spirit is reborn and brought alive. As a result, we find ourselves constantly embroiled in a battle with the desires of our flesh as we seek to fulfill the desire of the Spirit.(Galatians 5:17 “For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another…”)

The Bible also uses another term for the flesh: the natural man. The term natural man is synonymous with the flesh—but only the flesh as it pertains to the unregenerate man. Once we have received Christ and become a child of God, though still saddled with the flesh, we are no longer a natural man but a spiritual one.(1 Corinthians 2:14-16 “But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.15But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.16For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.”)

You Are Royalty

My child, I am rich in mercy and I love you with great and ever-lasting love. Even when you were steeped in sin, I pulled you out of that pit of destruction and made you alive with Me. I raised you up and seated you in the heavenly places. You are Mine and are of My household. Walk therefore in a manner worthy of your calling. You are royalty. But walk in humility and gentleness, with patience and show tolerance for one another in love. As I was kind and patient with you, you also be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as I have forgiven you.

Ephesians 2

Ephesians 4: 1&2 & 32

Abandon Yourself Completely

My child, come deeper with Me. Abandon yourself completely and utterly without any reservations. Give Me your whole heart and your entire being. Don’t hold anything back from Me. Trust Me with your soul, your mind, your body and your heart. You have nothing to fear and everything to gain. Release everything into My care today. My love for you is endless and I have a purpose and plan for you. I can only bring that about as you completely abandon yourself to Me.

Isaiah 30:18  Ephesians 2:10

I will give you rest

My child, let today be a day of rejoicing. Shout joyfully to the rock of your salvation. Come before Me with thanksgiving, for I am God and King above all gods. In My hand are the depths of the earth and the peaks of the mountains are Mine. I made everything and everything is in My hands. Come and worship. Come and hear My voice. Do not let your heart be hardened. Come and I will restore you. I will give you rest.
