Our Flesh: Body, Mind and Soul

The Bible often uses the term flesh to illustrate what Jesus strongly warned against: “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” Here the term flesh is used to describe that part of our nature which stands in contrast to our spirit. It is the carnal nature of man, the root of our sinful passions.
Our flesh encompasses body, mind and soul—that part of us which is able to function without ever submitting to God. It’s very important to understand that the flesh follows us into our new life in God. It continues to have a life of its own, even as our spirit made alive.
Regardless of the fact that we’re now focused on the desire of the Spirit, we find ourselves constantly embroiled in a battle with the desires of our flesh, as Paul so emphatically states in Galatians 5:17. Thank God there’s help!

My Desire For You

So much worry, so much anxiety, so much concern about the things that do not matter. What matters is your relationship with Me. The condition of your heart is My concern. Why burden yourself with the concerns of this world? Why fret over the temporary? Have faith in Me. Trust Me in every one of your circumstances. I go before you to make your path straight. I set My plan in motion to bring about My desires for your life. Keep seeing Me above all else. Trust Me. I know what I’m doing.

My Love For You

My love for you is endless. My commitment to you is sure. You can count on Me. Rest assured that I have My hand on you and will not let go. You are My lovely bride and My joy. I love you. I desire you. I take great pride in My creation of you and I love that you are loving Me in return. Know this My sweet one, you are the apple of My eye and nothing will ever change that. You are safe and secure under My wing. I am your strong tower and your refuge. Rejoice My chosen one. Rejoice.

Conflict

My child, as long as you are on this side of heaven you will be conflicted, because I created you and designed you to be with Me in heaven for eternity. But I have placed you here on earth for a short time and your heart and soul desires its true home. There in lies the conflict. Abide in Me, for in Me you will know peace. But I will not take away the desire to be with Me. That never goes away. When you abide in Me you will discover your true purpose for being here and will walk in fullness of joy. So many people are depressed and messed up because they refuse to abide in Me, so they experience conflict without peace. I have called you to a higher life, rooted and grounded in Me, flowing with the river of life. A light shining in the darkness and one who rules and reigns and walks in My love and authority. Abiding in Me is the key to this fantastic life here on earth until we’re together, in your true home. Be courageous and fight the good fight. Stay connected to Me and I will make your path straight.

Press On

My child, this is a new season in your life. A season of joy and reaping. You have prayed and I have answered. Look up and see your Redeemer lives. I am calling you to be an instrument of love to the unlovely. Of healing to the sick and hope to the hopeless. Walk in My strength, My joy and My peace. Be steadfast in your faith. Forget the things that lie behind and reach forward to what lies ahead. Press on to the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. I am your prize. In Me there is fullness of joy. Spread joy My child. Let your mind be focused on Me at all times, not on your circumstances. Rise above your circumstances. This is not your home. Your home is with Me. Place all of your hope in Me alone. Your Father who loves you deeply.

One Giant Step

The step of faith is one of immense proportions. It bridges the superficial nod of the intellect to the true belief of the heart. I was once seated next to a guy who had not asked Christ into His life yet accepted the fact that God did indeed exist. We got into a prolonged discussion about Jesus but came to no conclusion as to what he might do about taking that big step.
Finally I asked the critical question: “Are you willing to ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you? And if He does, would you be willing to give your life to Him? His answer? “No!” I appreciated his brutal honesty. He knew something really significant was required on his part. That’s why his answer had to be “no.” It was the price he was unwilling to pay. It was the fear of giving up control of his life.

Obedience of Surrender

Surrendering your life is a step of profound obedience. Since God is well aware of every detail of your life, He knows what a huge commitment this is on your part. Take comfort in the fact that God designed it this way and therefore has made every provision for becoming reunited with Him—in spite of the inborn weakness of your humanity. There’s no need to worry. Being “born again” into this new life in Christ can happen in an instant of time for the heart that’s ready to receive Him.
At the same time the Bible instructs those who have already taken that step to: “Test yourselves, to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Do you recognize that Jesus Christ is in you—or do you fail the test?” You’ll find this practice useful in judging your spiritual condition no matter where you are along life’s path.

Abundant Life

My child, how My heart burns for you. I long for you and the time we spend together. I enjoy your company. I am thrilled when we’re together. Nothing thrills Me more than when you come and spend time in My presence. When asked which is the greatest commandment in the law, I responded, “You shall love the Lord your God with all of your heart, and with all of your soul and with all of your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and Prophets.” Do these two things and you will experience a joy filled life, a life of adventure and complete satisfaction. Only when you give yourself to love Me and others, is when you will receive all I have for you. I came to give you life.  Come to Me today and enjoy the abundant life I have for you. People want abundant life, but they are going about it the wrong way. This is the only way. Matthew 22:37-40 John 10:10
