Keep Believing

Keep believing when times are tough
Don’t give up when there isn’t enough
Trust Me to provide fro all your needs
Then go out in the world and plant some seeds
A word of encouragement, a call to a friend
Is there a relationship that you need to mend?
Pray for the sick, the lost, the needy
And with your money, don’t be greedy
Have faith, love freely, experience My joy
This life is a test, a trial and you’ll pass in knowing
That Jesus died and took your place
All you need to do is believe and accept His grace
Heaven is real, eternity is true
Where you spend it is up to you!

Jesus Is the Kingdom

Paul tells us that God has, “…delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”(Colossians 1:12-13) But it’s a little hard to believe, isn’t it? Being trapped in these fleshly bodies here in this fallen world leads us to believe anything but. Yet it’s true!

Did you notice here that this is another of those “in Him” verses? Being “in Christ” is synonymous with being redeemed—rescued from the domain of darkness while simultaneously birthed as God’s child into Christ’s kingdom. But we need some fresh thinking about what it actually means to be a son or daughter of His kingdom. Why? Because Christ’s kingdom isn’t merely some sort of divine institution here on earth, or even that glorious place where we go once we die; Jesus is the kingdom!

“In” Christ!

A constant theme throughout Paul’s writings is that we are “in Christ” now that we are saved.(Romans 6:11) And “In Him” we have been made complete.(Colossians 2:10)

“In Him” we now possess all the benefits related to God’s purpose for us. He can’t give us any more than what He already has “in Christ.” But what we do with this treasure makes all the difference, because our choices ultimately determine our fruitfulness—that is, whether or not (and to what degree) we bring glory to God through our lives.(John 15:8)

Alive to God!

Christ Jesus became what we are not; He accomplished what we could not. He alone was capable of filling the role of the perfect sacrifice for sin, as well as becoming the Great High Priest interceding to carry out our redemption, both so skillfully described in the book of Hebrews. Here’s how Paul describes it in Romans:

“Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 6:8-11)

Jesus

My child, whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life. Jesus alone satisfies. Jesus makes you free. Jesus came to give you abundant life. Jesus and I are One. Jesus has prepared a place for you. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Apart from Jesus you can do nothing. In Jesus is fullness of joy.

John: 3:15, 6:35, 8:32 & 36, 10:10, 10:30, 14:2, 14:6, 15:5, 16:24

Abundant Life

My child, the same power that raised Jesus from the grave lives in you. My Spirit is able to accomplish what you can’t. Always be ready to hear My voice and do what I tell you. I am speaking to you and showing you My plan for your life. I have not called you to a life of mediocrity. I came that you would have life, and have it abundantly.

Romans 8:11  John 10:27   John 10:10

A Chosen Race

My child, people’s deepest need is Jesus. If they would lay down their lives and take Me at My word, they would experience all I have for them. Instead, most choose to do it their own way and live for years in misery and defeat. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

1 Peter 2:9

My Greatest Gift

My child, My lovingkindness is everlasting and My great goodness is toward you. I have compassion, mercy and love for you. I have given you the greatest gift, My Son, who takes away the sin of the world. Don’t  neglect this great gift. Receive and enjoy Jesus, the Lover of your soul, but don’t be stingy or hoard Him. Give Him away to others. The more you share Him with others, the more you will experience Him.

Your Father, the giver of life.

Isaiah 63:7        John 1:29

Choice with Teeth!

Why does God allow us to encounter so much conflict and hardship in life? How does it all fit in with His plan to bring us into union with Him? Choice is the answer!

Our redemption does not merely rest on our initial decision to make Jesus Lord of our life. It’s true that receiving Christ as Lord is the bedrock of our salvation, but our relationship with Him is built on a series of decisions we make over the course of a lifetime. Because life’s circumstances are tough, these choices are rarely easy. God allowed sin to exist for this very reason.

If God had designed things so that it would be easy to follow Him, our choices would have little meaning. Our pursuit of Jesus, while forsaking our own selfish desires, is what He wants. And He’s created the ideal system to measure our progress: life here on earth.

The Good News: Part 5

Having been made righteous through Christ, I am no longer condemned, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1-2). I have been raised up with Him, and seated with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). I have also been given access to the Father through Christ and I am sealed with the Holy Spirit who has been given as a pledge of my inheritance (Ephesians 1:13-14 & 2:18).

His grace has been showered on me according to the measure of Christ’s gift for the work of service for the building up of the body of Christ, of which I am an integral and indispensable member (Ephesians 4:7 & 12, 1 Corinthians 12:27). And through His power, I can now rejoice in any sufferings that result from doing my share on behalf of His body (Colossians 1:24).
