Law Exposes Sin

While it is obvious that God’s intention for law was both to curb sinful behavior and provide direction, its main purpose was to expose sin. Paul puts it this way in Romans 7:7: “I would not have come to know sin except through [law].” Law identifies and exposes sin because it sets the standard of God’s righteousness (His holiness) against that of our own self-centered, sinful motivations and behavior. So law can be thought of as a gauge of sorts, because it contrasts God’s righteousness with our own lack thereof.

But this begs a very pertinent question: did sin exist before the first law was ever given? Yes it did; at least man’s predisposition to sin did. But in the absence of law, sin laid dormant in Adam. Adam was created perfect, but being created perfect also meant being created human. And being human, he was subject to the chronic weakness of self-will. But Adam’s inherent self-will—and the sin which is the natural outcome of that weakness—was not recognized for what it was until law came on the scene to expose it.

God Alone

My child, don’t put your faith, trust and hope in man. You are to trust Me alone. Man will disappoint you every time, but I have your best interest in mind. Learn to depend on Me and not on the things of this world. Whatever happens in this life, know that I am ultimately in control. I know the end from the beginning and My purposes will be accomplished. Don’t fear and do not fret. Believe Me. I am on your side. What can man do to you?

Isaiah 46:10 Psalm 118:6

Your First Priority

My child, keep doing what I have told you to do. When I want you to do something different I will let you know. Your first priority is your husband. That is your number one job. Put his needs above your own and take care of him. I will make sure you have what you need. That’s My job. All of your other obligations will fall into place when you seek Me first and take care of your man. This is what I’ve called you to do.

No Escaping it!

As a matter of course, man without God is drawn into the world system made ever more powerful at the direction of demonic powers. Here we find those who have worked their way into positions of advantage (power), aiding and abetting the enslavement of their fellow men. Though the conflicts and challenges we experience in life may seem on the surface to be with people themselves, ultimately our struggle is against Satan himself as he goes about manipulating us through the world system he has developed and refined.

We dare not forget what Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:12: “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Now it’s not hard to see how such captivity can happen to those who have little or no knowledge of God.(Ephesians 4:19) But what about those of us who have come to know, love and serve God? What is the effect of this powerful world system on our lives? The truth is that its impact is clearly oppressive for us as well. So we would be foolish to think that we could remain untouched while living in a world infected by such sin.

Choose To Love

My child, choose to love. Life is hard and people are difficult, but choose to be My instrument of love. Delight yourself in Me and not in what the world offers. Practice living in My Presence. I will give you joy. Be thankful in all circumstances. I will bless you with more only if you’re thankful for what you already have. You are chosen, holy and beloved. Put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3:12

Attainable ~ Maintainable ~ Sustainable

These three words have been rolling over and over in my head lately. I’m wondering how many people have achieved their goal weight only to find that it’s not maintainable over the long haul. I did some googling and found this to be a major challenge in the weight loss world. What is a maintainable and sustainable weight? Who determines it? How can you hold on to the gains you’ve made in lean body mass, if you’re weight lifting and keep those wretched fat pounds off?

Much has been written about this I’m sure. For me, in my second half of life, I want to live in a body that I’m happy with and one that will sustain me into my latter years. This means I’m going to be eating foods that nourish my body and won’t do it harm. More fruits and veggies, less processed and packaged foods. I’m juicing more green vegetables as a way to get more of the good stuff in. What I’ve found is that when I drink green vegetable juice, I’m less hungry. I’m feeding my cells, nourishing them and the hunger disappears. Wow, what a concept. Feed the body what it needs and it will automatically turn off the hunger switch! Too many eat more calories than needed and don’t even come close to satisfying the cravings. Only intensifying them and turning on the “feed me” switch with a vengeance.

Give your body what it needs. It’s smart. It will respond and treat you well. I can live on fruits, veggies, grains, beans and nuts. Trying to live on processed, packaged or dead food will only lead to disease and early death. I’m going for a more attainable, maintainalbe and sustainable approach. Feed me live foods and live the abundant life!

Strength ~ Energy ~ Stamina

My child, I have you on the path of life. Take one day at a time and do what I’m telling you to do. I will lead you as you seek Me. I will give you the strength, energy and stamina you need to carry out what I am asking you to do. Keep your eyes on Me. I will do through you what you cannot do yourself. Never underestimate My ability to bring about the impossible.

Mind of Christ

My child, I have given you My Holy Spirit and you have the mind of Christ. I freely give you understanding, wisdom and revelation. Walk by My Spirit and not by the flesh and you will hear My voice. Your flesh will always try to distract you, but take every thought captive. Live in the power of the Holy Spirit and you won’t carry out the deeds of the flesh.
