My child, I long to be gracious to you, and I wait on high to have compassion on you. For I am a God of justice. How blessed are all those who long for Me. When you cry out to Me I will answer you. Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it.” Isaiah 30:18-21
The Awesome Promises of Psalm 103
The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. (Psalm 103:8-10)
Here we clearly see God’s compassion for us once again. It is limitless and unquenchable. And what about this idea of lovingkindness? What does that mean? From the Hebrew, hesed, it is often translated as steadfast love; grace; mercy; faithfulness; goodness; and devotion. It is impossible to translate this concept meaningfully with one English word, since all these attributes come into play.
But does this mean God won’t punish sin? To believe that we would have to ignore everything else in Scripture. No, it simply means that He fully understands us, as we will see in upcoming verses. Free from the Power of sin–The Keys to Growing in God in Spite of Yourself brings this hard-to-understand truth–His absolute provision for the weakness of our flesh–sharply into focus.
No Fear of Death
I had a moment, not a dream, because I was awake around 2:00 am this morning, where I felt a surge flow through my body. It was like my spirit was about to leave my body and it felt amazing and indescribably wonderful. I could feel the pull of going to a place of pure joy. Then it stopped and I was back to laying in my bed. I told the Lord, if He wanted to take Me home, I was ready, it was that awesome of a feeling. Then it happened a second time right after I said that, I thought for sure I was headed to see My Savior face to face! But then I returned back to feeling normal again. I felt like I got a glimpse of what it will feel like when we die. It’s not to be feared if we have a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus. There is nothing to fear when we die if you are a child of God. It’s something to look forward to because it’s so much more amazing than what we experience here on earth.
Can’t Hear Me?
My child, you say you can’t hear My voice, but I say, “Yes you can!” You only need to be quiet long enough, remove the distractions and I will speak to you. Listen and you will hear Me. You say you can’t ‘feel’ Me. But I say I am all around you and inside of you. You will ‘feel’ Me when you turn your gaze toward Me. Seek Me with your whole heart and you will hear Me and feel Me. I am always here with you. Jeremiah 29:12-13
Psalm103 Mini-series: Episode Three
The Lord performs righteous deeds and Judgments for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel. Psalm 103: 6-7.
Feeling a little oppressed today? Not unusual. But what a promise from God in v.6! If you are his child, He is always there reaching out to you, crowning you with lovingkindness and compassion (v.4). Yet there is even a bigger question: will you merely experience His acts or come to know His ways? Be that one to whom God can reveal His wisdom. Diligently pursue God and you will find Him doing just that!
“Forget None of His Benefits” Psalm 103
Who pardons all your iniquities; Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit; Who crowns you with loving-kindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle. Ps.103: 3-5.
Seriously? I’d call those some major benefits–almost too good to be true! And yet those who make God #1 in their lives experience it. Pursue God and He will bring it all to pass.
Truth Always Prevails
My child, truth always prevails. No lie will stay hidden when the light of truth shines. Know truth, know My Word and walk in the light. In Me there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5
Worship? It’s Soul Food! A Psalm 103 mini-series
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits. Psalm103:1-2.
Worship is the act of glorifying God. It is most valuable when it originates from the heart–thus, “Bless the Lord, O my soul.” The word itself is rooted in the idea of worthiness: “worth-ship” one might say. Because God is infinitely worthy, our response should just naturally be that of praising and glorifying Him. What are some of those benefits?–next time.
Nothing Is Hidden
My child, nothing is hidden from My eyes. I see everything and know everything about you. Your thoughts and intentions, your desires and your fears. Nothing is hidden. Come to me with everything. I have what you are looking for. With people this is impossible, but with Me all things are possible. Matthew 19:26
My Desire
My desire is that you know Me, intimately. My desire is that you have so much of My joy and love flowing through you that it spills over to others. My desire is for you to share in My purpose and plan for this generation to experience revival and to come to know the real reason they exist. This is My heart for you.
John 17
